The Matthias Family > The Mission to Ukraine building, located in the city of Zhytomyr or "Житомир", about 2 hours west of Kyiv. This ministry, (www.missiontoukraine.org) which was founded over 10 years ago, shares the gospel and the love of Christ by providing counseling and medical assistance to pregnant women as well as disabled children and their parents. It is completely operated by a staff of 30 Ukrainians, including counselors, a dentist, pediatrician, gynocologist, an English teacher, physical therapists and others!
The Matthias Family > Mark and Maggie (not pictured) also visited an English class attended by 3 teenagers. It was incredibly encouraging to see how this program has impacted the lives of disabled children, children who otherwise are discarded or locked away by society. Natasha, (seated on the right) was extremely bright and cheerful young woman who has attended various programs of the facility since it began operation over 10 years ago.
The Matthias Family > Ira Vigovskaya, the director of Mission to Ukraine, shows us a room where staff provide physical therapy to the physically disabled children.
The Matthias Family > Accompaning Mark to the Mission to Ukraine facility was Maggie, a prospective missionary with SEND, who spent about a week visiting Kiev and learning about various ministries in Ukraine. Here, Maggie is seen with the program's pediatrician, who provides exams and treatment to the disabled children and the babies who visit the clinic.
